What can I expect from The Rink at RISING?
Riverside ice skating on the banks for Birrarung Marr for kids and grown-ups of all ages.
The Rink at RISING is a new pop-up precinct featuring an outdoor rink sheltered under an open-walled big top. The precinct hosts a Food Hall, fod trucks, bars, tables and chairs and firepits. Entry to the precinct is free and ice skating tickets ranges from $22 – 34.
RISING’s School Holiday Program hosts ice skating, bubble art making and family friendly djs and music during school holidays from 23 June—8 July.
Skating lessons are available for the 11am and 12pm sessions and run for 15 min at the start of each session. These group lessons are designed for beginners as an introduction to skating basics.
Where is the experience located?
The event will take place at Birrarung Marr on the north bank of the Yarra River, next to Federat Square. It’s just past Art Play near Deborah Halpern's 'Angel' sculpture.
Coming from the CBD, you can reach it by walking along the Yarra River past Federation Square. You can also access the precinct coming from the MCG.
Does the experience take place in an indoor or outdoor venue?
The Rink at RISING takes place in an outdoor precinct. The ice rink is sheltered under a big top.
How long does the experience last?
Your ticket gives you access to the rink for a 1-hour 45-minute time slot from the entry time on your ticket. This includes 90 minutes of skating time, as there will be 1 x 15 minute ice cleaning window in the middle. You can come on and off the ice as much as you choose during this time.
Is it COVID secure and safe?
We continue to review our processes in line with the latest Victorian Government health guidelines.

How do I get there?
PUBLIC TRANSPORT
RISING encourages using public transport—tram, train or bus.
The Rink is accessible from Flinders Street station and the Federation Square tram stop on St Kilda Road and Flinders Street. The walking distance is approximately 550 metres, which takes about 7 minutes to walk.

CYCLING There is a public bike parking rack near the Birrarung Marr playground and ArtPlay. Please ensure you lock your bike. Cyclists park their bikes at their own risk.
Regarding tickets
Can I purchase a ticket at the event?
Yes! Fever has a ticketing booth on-site where you can purchase one. Tickets are subject to availability, so if you want to avoid missing out please purchase online in advance as The Rink has a limited capacity per session.
Where can I get tickets?
Are refunds allowed? What is the exchange policy?
Tickets are non-refundable.
Do I need to print my ticket?
No, your contactless tickets will be validated directly in the Fever App.
Can I transfer my tickets to another person?
Yes, you can transfer your tickets to anyone for free. It is as easy as clicking "Transfer Tickets" on your ticket on the Fever App. Please
contact us for additional help. Make sure to include your ticket ID number.
Can I reschedule my tickets to another date/time?
It happens! We may be able to exchange your tickets to a different date or session (pending availability and within our Terms and Conditions). We may be able to help reschedule or exchange your ticket for another date, time or ticket type that has not already sold out. Please
contact us for more information. Make sure to include your Fever ticket ID number. Requests must be made more than 24 hours from the event. If you happen to arrive on the wrong day, you may need to buy new tickets.
I booked the wrong day for The Rink?
We may be able to exchange your tickets to a different date or session (pending availability and within our Terms and Conditions). We may be able to help reschedule or exchange your ticket for another date, time or ticket type that has not already sold out. Please
contact us for more information with your Fever ticket ID number and a preferred new session. Check the event calendar for current dates and session availabilility. Requests must be made more than 24 hours from the event. If you happen to arrive on the wrong day, you may need to buy new tickets.
What are the official sellers for this experience?
Official tickets for The Rink at RISING school holiday season (23 June – 08 July) can only be purchased on Fever.
Tickets for the Rink at RISING between 01 June – 18 June can only be purchased through www.rising.melbourne.
Tickets are not available on any other website or ticketing platform.
Can I make a Group Booking?
Of Course! You can book in a group directly through
the website. Group bookings can be also requested by filling out the RISING Group Booking Form. For more information, visit the RISING

I can't find my ticket. What can I do?
You can find your ticket with the QR code in the Fever app, within the Tickets section. If you don't have it installed, you can download it from the Apple Store or Google Play. Remember to log in using the same account that you used when buying the tickets. If you still cannot find your ticket, please
contact us.
Regarding Access
Is there air conditioning?
The precinct is an open air sheltered event. While the rink is under the shelter of the big top, it is not sheltered form the wind. F&B offerings are a combo of undercover and food trucks outside. There will be fire pits to keep you warm and cosy.
What access services are available at The Rink?
You can email access@rising.melbourne if you have any questions or need further information. Our friendly Front of House staff can assist with questions and information at the precinct.
There is signage and information in written formats in the precinct. Companion card tickets are available to bring access workers.
Are wheelchairs available to rent?
No, but wheelchairs are welcome on the ice, and the venue is accessible for wheelchair users.
Will there be strobe lights?
There are no strobe lights at the RINK. The precinct will be lit like a parklands. On the ice there may be moving colourful lights.
Will food and beverage be available on site for purchase?
An abundance of mouth-watering menu options will keep visitors of all tastes and ages warm and well-fed in the Rink Food Hall (free to enter). Think Fugazi Woodfired Pizza, and for the kids, there’s Crepes for Change, Hot Dog Deli, Manny’s Doughnuts along with bubble tea, ice cream, burgers and ‘choose-you-own-salt' popcorn.
Drinks include a range of options like St Ali coffee and tea by Mabu Mabu, while from The Rink’s fully-stocked bar, there’s mulled wine, hot Archie Rose cocktails, Mork boozy hot chocolates and premium beer and wine, with non-alcoholic options.
Can I take photos or record the experience?
Feel free to take photos and share them. When taking photos, please make sure not to disturb other visitors. Professional equipment and tripods are not permitted. All media requests must go through RISING’s publicity team, Common State.
Is there seating available?
There are chairs and tables set up throughout the site.
Will restrooms be available on site?
Yes, there are bathrooms throughout the precinct. There are 2 accessible toilets within the compound
Are there vegan or gluten free options available?
Yes, there is a selection of food available catering for a variety of dietary requirements, including gluten-free, vegan and vegetarian options.
Do I need to wear a mask?
RISING complies with the Victorian government health orders. Patrons are not required to wear a face mask when you are outdoors.
Do I need to arrive at the start of my scheduled session?
We recommend arriving early, ahead of your ticketed session start time to maximise your time on the ice. If you arrive more than 15 minutes after your session begins you may not be admitted and may need to exchange (subject to fees and availability) or purchase a new ticket to skate. If you have missed your session completely, we cannot issue a refund.
What happens if I arrive late?
Our team on the night will be able to assess if you are able to join the session later than your ticketed entry time when you arrive. If you arrive more than 30 minutes after your session begins you may not be admitted and may need to purchase a new ticket to skate.If you have missed your session completely, we cannot issue a refund.
Are service dogs allowed?
Yes, we welcome service animals to the Rink, excluding, of course, on the ice.
Is there an age requirement?
Children must be 3+ to skate. Children 3 - 12 must be accompanied by a ticketed adult (18+) on the ice rink.
Is there parking available?

Yes, you can bring your own skates!
What do I need to bring to The Rink?
Yourself! Skate Hire is included with a skate ticket, Kangaroo skating aides are available but are subject to availability.
If you have your own skates, you’re welcome to bring them, we do ask that you keep them tucked away in a bag with protective coverings on them when you’re not on the ice.
Skating supporters can bring signs, blankets or picnic rugs. Chairs and any infrastructure (like tables) are not allowed.
As a licensed area, BYO alcohol is not allowed. we cannot allow BYO alcohol
Can I drink before The Rink?
To protect everyone’s, (and your own) safety, we encourage you to partake in a mulled wine or other alcoholic drink after your skating session. Our Conditions of Entry state that our Guests Services will not allow you to skate if you show signs of intoxication.
Can I bring my children to The Rink
Absolutely! RISING encourages all families to attend this event, however we have a few rules to make sure everyone is safe on the ice:
- Children under 3 years old are not permitted to skate
- Child priced tickets are only valid for children under 12
- All children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult on the ice
Please also note there will be licensed areas around The Rink which also require an accompanying adult.
Do families get a discount?

What if the weather is bad?
The ice rink itself is sheltered by an open-walled big top, but expect it to be cold so rug up (we’ll also be selling beanies and scarves on-site). RISING is an all-weather event. We'll proceed in rain, hail, or shine unless it is deemed unsafe to do so. Grab a brolly or don a rain jacket. We've got both. We will communicate to all ticketholders, and on our social channels, about any extreme weather events that may impact events.
What are the prohibited items at the experience?
Professional photography and video equipment (unless approved media), BYO alcohol, anything which may disturb the other patrons.
Can I bring bags into venue?
Patrons carrying large backpacks and other oversized bags (larger than A3 size) may not be admitted. Cloaking facilities are unlikely to be provided
